A modern day choice for office

I've lived in Spruce Grove my whole life, attended school in Spruce Grove and took Astrophysics at the UofA before switching gears and pursuing Materials Engineering Technologies at NAIT.
A diploma holder for MatEngTech from NAIT, I worked for a Spruce Grove based business for near to 6 years, survived Osteosarcoma in my left knee as a young child and made it out with a rotationplasty.
I've been through a lifetime's worth of experiences and I'm willing to listen to council to supplement the knowledge I may not have at hand BUT the one thing I want is to see the quality of life for the people of this city skyrocket!

What do I stand for?

A hospital in Spruce Grove

Spruce Grove's population is rapidly growing and yet our city doesn't yet have an urgent care clinic or a hospital. When one of our citizens falls into immediate need for care we need to wait for another cities' already overwhelmed hospital system to have enough room for the patient and the ability to treat them. We need a local location that can diagnose and treat our ill and our injured and we need one a decade ago!
I hope to bring a hospital to the table and work with the rest of the council on determining funding for it. It's time that we stopped pretending that we're a small town and our neighbouring cities can provide the urgent care resources that our community needs!

Quality Public Transit

I passed by three 560 busses in one trip on Tuesday morning this week... At our current maximum capacity we have 9 busses running concurrently in the morning. I passed by a third of our fleet as they were all stuck in traffic
"Build it and they will come", you won't hear many people stand by this principle when it comes to public transit but I'm a firm believer that a well connected community is one that doesn't require everyone to make exorbitant payments on their own personal vehicles to make every single trip. There are many successful examples of transit building mixed residential and commercial regions from the ground up and I am completely for it. There's always more studies going on somewhere around the world and frankly I think it's time Spruce Grove applies some of what the rest of the world has learned. While my personal choice is a LRT connecting the currently development struggling new ball arena to Lakewood park and then west to Westland Market mall extending to Westgrove Manor before curving in a "c" shape stopping outside the TLC, then slowly making it's way up past amberwynd out east to Jubilee Park and further the Prescott area (with a seperate north-south connection (or multiple) and a couple other potential stops throughout the city along the main route, I believe that ANY amount of permanent public transit infrastructure is better than what we have right now.
Spruce Grove already has some nice multipurpose bike/pedestrian pathways but we need to connect the North-South ends of the West side of the city on top of properly implementing transit that encourages biking as a sub form of transportation. Barely anybody wants to be a "cyclist", they just want to choose the right tool for the right job and with Spruce Grove's layout it makes sense to get around on two wheels but our city could do a lot better. Traffic calming has been introduced in areas that make little to no sense and have impeded the road for riders and drivers alike and made people drive more dangerously. If we want to do things right we have to do them safer and in a way that doesn't discourage a healthy way for our community and for our paychecks to get around! I propose that we take a look around the city for outdated speed limits, poor connection paths, and potential areas to build new paths to connect our communities more in a way that makes more sense for everyone not just for the automobile.
